Advisory Council Purpose
In its mission to provide high quality services, the Voices for Women Sexual Assault Centre values the input of our community members and clients when developing our programs and services.
The Advisory Council provides our team with the opportunity to hear about all of your great ideas and opinions. In turn, the information gathered during meetings will guide our team to ensure the continuity of high quality services.
What is the role of an advisory council member?
- Serve as a resource to Voices for Women Sexual Assault Centre.
- Provide feedback on policies and program development.
- Represent the wider population of women who use our Centre.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Provide advice during meetings and review relevant documents between meetings as requested.
- Reply to emails or mail in a timely fashion.
- Assist with planning and organizing of special events, educational sessions, program development, media events, relevant presentations, etc.
Who can apply?
The Voices for Women Sexual Assault Centre seeks female members of the community and past clients, 18 or older, who display the following:
- Commitment to the community and to the well-being of the individuals we serve;
- Ability to look beyond single events and even beyond systems in order to facilitate effective planning.
The Voices for Women - Sexual Assault Centre also seeks members who reflect the diversity of those served by the Centre – racial, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, age, educational background, and a variety of family structures.
Past clients may be members of the Advisory Council provided that their file has been closed for a minimum of one year.
